With record breaking unemployment for under 25s still making the headlines, music development organisation Tees Music Alliance (TMA) are launching a brand new apprentice programme in February 2012 and are looking for Teesside-based talent who are wanting to get involved.
Access All Areas is a programme of semi formal ‘on the job’ learning placements, building on existing skills and experience and creating new opportunities to give a helping hand into these competitive industries.
TMA are looking for the creative talent of the future to take advantage of this unique opportunity, which will be perfect for people looking to gain hands on experience in music and the creative industries.
Applications are open from anyone based in the North East over the age of 16 who would like to gain practical experience on live projects in the music and creative industries.
Each placement will be tailored to individual aspirations and will be different in terms of the work activities and skills, but will involve hands on music and creative industry experience, advice and guidance from industry experts, Access to a wide range of networks, resources and opportunities and building a skills portfolio.
Project Manager Paula Taylor said, “What we are looking for is switched on, interested and keen individuals who want to get on and don't mind getting stuck into whatever comes along!”
Project Coordinator Jill Heslop continues, “We hope that Access All Areas will act as a launch pad for individuals but also hope that cultural organisations in the area will also ‘sign up’ to the programme and develop opportunities for people across the sector.”
Project Coordinator Cathrine Shea concluded, “The programme was developed to bridge the significant gap which exists in the music and cultural industries between those who may be qualified but lack real transferable skills which the sector now demands. In a competitive market we believe that those who get involved in the scheme will be in a more advantageous position when securing work in the future”
